The whole boat and its building frame are made out of 4 sheets of plywood, 2 at 1/4" thick and 2 at 1/2" thick. the mast and boom are made out of closet poles. plans are $20.. The trick is not to rush the boat. the harder you press down on the centreboard, the more water will be inside the boat when it is up again. gentle raising keeps the water down to a bucket worth and boat has good stability and can sail with no problem. good sailing dinghy performance with sailing canoe ease of handling off the water..
The bottom width, or the boat weight, must be high enough to make it possible to stand in the boat. not to stand while underway, that's dangerous. but to get into the boat from a jetty is difficult, if you can't step into the boat. the minimum bottom width for any chance of standing in a small dinghy seems to be upwards from 28" (70 cm)..
